OLD COURSE

BACHELOR OF ARTS

            There will be six-semester courses (three years) of study leading to Bachelor of Arts (General & Honours). Each semester will consist of 90 working days.

            A student who has passed10+2 examination of Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur or equivalent examination recognised by the Manipur University is eligible for admission to B.A. Course.

Practical/Laboratory Classes


For a subject involving practical/Laboratory classes:
i. The practical examination will carry at least 30% overall weightage.
ii. For an elective paper of 100 marks comprising of Theory and Practical components, the distribution of marks shall be generally
Theory – 75 marks
Practical – 25 marks
However, for certain subjects, (e.g. Geography), a different distribution may be adopted.
i. Honours Paper III in the 5th semester and Honours Paper VI in the 6th semester may be practical papers.

  • Honours paper shall be chosen from among the Electives offered in the previous semesters.

Eligibility to appear at the End-Semester Examination
A student who has studied a regular course of study for a semester may be admitted to the End-semester examination provided the student has attended not less than 75% of the lectures delivered, including practical classes.

  1. Promotion
    a) A student who has passed all the papers of the semester examination will be promoted to the next higher semester.
    b) A student who has failed in one or two papers in a semester may also be promoted to the next higher semester provided that is no case a student will be promoted to the next higher semester if he/she has more than four papers at a time.
  2. Incentive Award
    There are incentive awards for those students who get higher marks under the Council of Higher Secondary Examinations, Manipur and Manipur University Examinations as shown under:
