About the College

N.G. College (Nongmeikapam Gopal College) is ideally situated at Lamphelpat about one kilometre in the west from the heart of Imphal city. The location affords solitude and congenial atmosphere conducive to the pursuit of good education. The college has a spacious campus of 6.4 acres which provides sufficient areas for play-grounds and building infrastructures.

N.G. College was an offshoot of a solemn meeting on May 5, 1969, which gave birth to the “City College” in 1970 as a night college at Tombisana High School. On 21st December 1970, the then “City College” was renamed as “Nongmeikapam Gopal College”. The College was taken over by the Government of Manipur in 1980 and became a regular day college. The college is now affiliated to Manipur University and is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under 2f & 12B of the UGC Act.

The college’s infrastructure has seen continuous improvement, supported by community donations and government initiatives. Notable developments include the Ram Lal Paul Science Block, an auditorium inaugurated by the Chief Minister in 1997, and a state-of-the-art multipurpose hall funded by RUSA, inaugurated in 2023. TSPMWC has hosted distinguished dignitaries, enhancing its reputation as a hub of academic excellence. Today, the college stands as a fully-fledged Arts and Science degree institution offering 21 subjects. The dedicated team of educators has consistently guided students to excel in both university examinations and positions of distinction.
